Taylor Rogers and the Plaid Shirts | Abbey Bowed
December 13, 2015 | 7:00 pm-9:00 pm$15
| Abbey Bowed (The first half of Abbey Road arranged originally by Sam Sharp for string quartet)
Taylor Rogers is a folk singer/songwriter out of Chapel Hill, NC. Her second album “wax and wane” was released in September and features ten intricately arranged acoustic tracks that seek to explore the waxing and waning phases of our shared human experience. Taylor began performing her own music after graduating from Oberlin College in 2011 where she recorded her first album , ‘crossing bridges’.
She has since been based in Bloomington, IN until recently moving to Chicago in September of 2014 where she formed ‘Taylor Rogers and the Plaid Shirts.’ The group consists of violinist Sam Sharp (Oberlin Conservatory), bassist John Nadel (IU), and rotating percussionists. Taylor has performed all over the midwest and in various festivals such as Oberlin FolkFest and BAMFest. Her music is inspired by themes of “connection, of presence, and of embracing the dream-states so necessary to creation (Beth-Lodge Rigal, WWFaC Greenbook Review)”.
